Outdoor Development Courses
The ‘Aim’ of Outdoor Development Courses are to enable delegates to apply the understanding of team roles and team personality to improve a teams work performance. Management teams benefit from encouraging self-reliance within their organisation. Managers and established supervisors benefit by the opportunity to review ways of managing ‘their people’ in terms of both current thinking and ‘best practice’ in to-days business environment.
Firstly what the ‘Events’ are not…
These Events are not a military exercise or ‘outward bounds’ course that requires great physical fitness! Participants will be able to join in at the level they feel able, meeting challenges that are suited to all ages, male or female and at any level of physical fitness. The aim is not to cause participants physical or emotional stress but to give individuals a sense of personal achievement and a strong team spirit that will live on well into the future.
So what are these ‘Outdoor Development Events’?
In brief they are residential ‘Outdoor’ Leadership Development and/or Team Building courses designed as 24-hour plus interactive teamwork events. Delegates work as part of a team, being set a team challenge sub-divided into team tasks. Each task needs to be successfully completed for the challenge to be met and each person will have his or her own role to play so that the ‘Team’ may be successful in achieving the team challenge. During the event, delegates will understand that there is more to their fellow team members than the skills and experience that each individual brings with them. Individual personalities collectively form a team personality.
Each person has his or her own task(s) and part to play in achieving the team challenge.
During this ‘Interactive Development Event’ delegates have their business acumen, decision-making, self-determination and initiative skills / abilities, stretched and tested. The aim is the development of ‘Team working skills’ whilst having fun and to provide a stimulating, positive and memorable two days. On completion of the course delegates will be able to apply their understanding of team roles to their department, identify how to achieve best performance by understanding individual personality. By matching these to responsibilities, we set out to encourage self-reliance within the team, motivating and developing the potential within each team member. Delegates will be aware of their team leadership/influencing style and how to enhance their authority and effectiveness, apply improved communication techniques and maximise team co-operation, motivation and productivity.
